An assessment of overcrowding in schools is taking place in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State.

In most parts of the country, a classroom is made up of about a hundred children.

The assessment, entitled Room To Learn Project, is aimed at helping schools to improve quality education.

The project’s director, Dr. Christopher Kenyi, told Eye Radio in Yei that the project will benefit schools on teacher training and materials development, and increase children’s enrolment.

“the Room To Learn Project is intended to be a bottom up project going right to the grassroots, to the school level, and asking what does the school need to improve, what does the school need to increase enrolment, what does school need to improve quality,” he said.

Room is To Learn Project is being implemented by two international organizations, Winrock International and FHI-360 based in Juba.

Dr. Kenyi said The USAID funded project will kick start immediately.
