No money for civic education – NCRC

The National Constitutional Review Commission says it has never received any money for civic education programs since its formation more than two years ago.

The chairman, Professor Akolda Maan Tier, says the commission received money for allowances only from the government.

He says the commission is also unable to convene seminars to gather the views of the people.

The commission was formed in 2012 to revise the transitional constitution within one year. But so far, it is has not produced a draft of the permanent constitution.

Prof Akolda says security is one of the challenges that have delayed the work of the commission.
