The Media Authority has mourned its senior official, Sapana Agyuli Abuyi, describing him as a distinguished leader following his sudden death on Saturday night.
In a condolence message issued on Sunday, the media regulator expressed its sorrow over the death of Abui, who was the Director General for Information and Media Compliance. He died on Saturday at 11:00 o’clock while receiving treatment for complications related to high blood pressure.
According to his family, Abui had been in hospital after suffering injuries to his neck and chest following a collapse linked to high blood pressure complications on June 22.
The Media Authority described Abui as a widely respected distinguished leader, dedicated public servant, mentor, and patriot.
It added that his tireless commitment to strengthening South Sudan’s media sector and advancing national service earned him admiration across the country.
The Authority said colleagues will remember him for his wisdom, integrity, and professionalism, qualities it said will remain an enduring legacy for generations to come.
The Managing Director of the Media Authority, Ajou Luol Akuei, extended heartfelt condolences to Abui’s family, friends, the media fraternity, and the people of South Sudan.
