Lakes governor hold talks with Rumbek chiefs

The Caretaker Governor of Lakes State is holding talks with chiefs from three communities in Rumbek North and Rumbek Central Counties in a bid to prevent more communal fighting.

The talks in Rumbek town aim at addressing issues of revenge attacks and killings in the two areas.

The meeting is being attended by youth from the villages of Pakam, Rup and Kuei.

Caretaker Governor Matur Chut says he hopes the meeting will end two years of conflict in the area.

A parliamentary report last year said more than 500 people had been killed in revenge attacks in the state.
