Kiir’s office theft: Witnesses testify

Two prosecution witnesses in the case of former presidential officials accused of stealing millions of dollars in the name of the President testified in the court on Monday.

An undersecretary in the ministry of finance defended documents which indicate that his ministry approved different budgets to officials from the office of the president.

A former director general of accounts in the ministry of finance denied any involvement in approving money for the accused officers.

Defense lawyers accused the ministry of finance of approving double payment to different officials from the office of the president.

They cross-examined the witnesses about documents and contracts that were made with the Office of the President since 2014.

Agok Makur, one of the defense lawyers, said Rwandan experts will also appear in court on Wednesday to testify about the use of stamps for financial requests in the name of the President.
