The office of the president has rejected the recent sanctions imposed on three SPLA commanders.
Early this month, UN Security Council sanctioned six Commanders, three from each – the government and the opposition forces – last month.
It said they will not be allowed to travel abroad and their assets outside the country will be frozen.
The Presidential Press secretary, Ateny Wek Ateny, says the sanctions will hinder peace in the country.
“We have rejected this. What the government of South Sudan deserves is not the sanction but rather the support because the government of South Sudan has been trying its best to ensure that it returns the country to normal,” Mr Ateny told Eye Radio.
“And if they are doing it in an attempt to bring peace, then it will not bring peace; the sanctions will not bring peace instead it will even aggravate the situation.”
From the government side, sanctions have been imposed on Major General Marial Chanuong Yol, Lieutenant General Gabriel Jok Riak, and Major General Santino Deng Wol.
And from the opposition side, sanctions were imposed on Major-General Simon Gatwech Dual, Major-General James Koang Chuol, and Major-General Peter Gatdet.
