Kiir forms team to investigate Juba gunfire

President Salva Kiir has formed a joint committee to investigate the shootings in Juba over the last two days.

The shooting started in Gudelle and Munuki suburbs on Thursday evening, leading to the death of two SPLA soldiers.
The SPLM in Opposition forces say some of their soldiers were wounded.

This evening, while President Salva Kiir, his two deputies and other senior security officials were in a meeting to discuss the Thursday gunfire, another gunfight broke out around the presidential palace.

The three leaders were addressing a joint press conference when the gunfight started and later spread to Jebel Kujur suburb, which houses the headquarters of the SPLM in Opposition forces in the capital.

According to a presidential decree broadcast on the national television, the Minister of Interior Lt. General Alfred Lado Gore is the chairman of the committee.

It added that the mandate of the joint committee is to investigate the two shooting incidents on the night of July 7 and July 8, 2016.
