President Salva Kiir has donated 70 million South Sudanese pounds to the Azande Kingdom to facilitate the monarchy’s activities as NilePet boss Bernard Amour pledged further 10-million-pound for the same purpose.
The donation was announced by Presidential Affairs Minister Joseph Bangasi Bakosoro in the second anniversary of the Kingdom’s restoration in Bazungua Payam of Yambio.
Bakosoro also announced that NilePet Managing Director, Engineer Bernard Amour Makeny has donated 10 million pounds while Eastern Equatoria Governor Louis Lobong contributed 2 million.
The financial donation is expected to help the Kingdom in the ongoing construction of a new royal palace in Yambio.
“Our President sent a small amount for the Kingdom to start its activities, is 70 million pounds. So, he did not come here personally but he gave to me to bring it, so I am going to give it to the person who will be chosen for me to give,” Bakosoro said.
“Governor Louise Lobong, has sent you our King a sum of 2 million pounds. Our brother called Bernard Amuor of Nilepet has given 10 million pounds to the Kingdom.”
The Azande Kingdom was restored with the installation of King Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue on the 9th February 2022 about 117 years after the death of King Gbudue.
On Thursday, the Kingdom marked the second anniversary of its installation with cultural gathering and sports activities.
Yesterday, it was again marked with the raising of the Kingdom’s flag laying the foundation stone for the new palace in Bazungua Payam – 7 kilometers east of Yambio town.
