Minister Changson Chang who was on a visit to Ethiopia disclosed this during a meeting with some South Sudanese students studying in different universities in Ethiopia, on August 7, in Addis Ababa.

Sixty-five South Sudanese Students under Ethiopia’s government scholarship called for their evacuation after fighting intensified between a militia group and the Federal army in the Amhara region.

The dozens of students in Gondar and Bahir Dar Universities desperately voiced concerns over their safety in a Tuesday interview with Eye Radio.

President Kiir on Monday travelled to Addis Ababa, on a one-day working visit to Ethiopia for bilateral talks with his Ethiopian counterpart Dr Abiy.

The Meeting aims at strengthening the long-standing relations between the two countries.

The Minister of Higher Education informed the students that the issue of their colleagues trapped in conflict areas of the Amhara region was on the agenda of the two leaders.

Changson says the South Sudan ambassador to Ethiopia Dr. James Pitia Morgan raised the matter to President Kiir and the president discussed it with the Ethiopia Prime Minister.

He says the Ethiopian authorities and Ambassador Morgan will closely monitor the situation.
