Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has called on the international community to support peace and security arrangements in South Sudan.
He says the support should include a response to the current humanitarian crisis.
President Salva Kiir and Dr Riek Machar signed the agreement under the mediation of IGAD Plus in August.
Mr Uhuru says the UN should help in ensuring the agreement.
He spoke at the 70th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York yesterday.
“Kenya… urges the international community, especially the United Nations, to support the IGAD Plus process and other initiatives geared towards the realization of the comprehensive, just, and sustainable peace in South Sudan,” Mr Kenyatta told the UN assembly.
“South Sudan needs to get on to the path of peace development and reconstruction and this needs to happen urgently.”
The assembly discussed global peace and security as well as the sustained development goals.
