Police in Kapoeta North County in Eastern Equatoria have intensified search for suspects in the rape and murder of a businesswoman in Nakuwait Boma on 29th December, the commissioner said.

Armed robbers assaulted the victim identified by one name as Nakuru on Sunday while on her way to sell her goods at a local market.

Kapoeta North Commissioner David Nayee said the woman was raped, robbed and murdered by the eight armed men.

Commissioner Nayee stated that one of the suspects has been identified and is believed to have criminal records.

In an interview with Eye Radio on Thursday, the commissioner said authorities and community leaders are still hunting for the culprits and bring them to book.

Nayee also condemns the act terming it strange and unusual.

“We as the county condemn in all possible terms the killing of that woman. It is not something that has been happening, it is something so strange and it is really new,” he said.

“We don’t want women to be losing lives for no reason and we are asking the police to make sure they bring the culprits or the criminals who are trying to bring problems to the community, so that the government can see how we can handle the issue.”
