The government of South Sudan is calling on the United States to use its diplomatic influence to convince Sudan to resolve all post-independence issues with South Sudan.

The government urged the Obama’s administration to assist in ensuring the implementation of the cooperation agreement is respected.

Doctor Barnaba Marial Benjamin, who is the government spokesperson, said the cooperation agreement is key to the viability of the two countries.

According to the government’s website, Doctor Marial accused Sudan of continually setting preconditions for the implementation of the cooperation.

Doctor Marial also called on American businesses to invest in the oil sector in South Sudan.

He was speaking on the occasion to mark the independence anniversary of the United States last week.
