Juba University urged to be professional

The Minister of Education, Science and Technology has called on the lecturers of Juba University to be committed to ethics and principles of the teaching profession.

Dr Peter Adwok Nyaba says many lecturers have left the University of Juba for private universities which are operating illegally.

Most lecturers allegedly leave the higher learning institution due to inconsistency in salary payment.

“The Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology as well as the National Council for Higher Education is trying hard to improve the condition of service of members’ of these institutions,” said Adwok.

The Ministry of Higher Education formed a committee headed by the Director of Higher Education, Gabriel Apai earlier this year, to assess the working environment, classrooms and the qualification of lecturers in all the Universities.

The Ministry then announced the closure of South Sudan Christian University of Science and Technology, Cavendish, and Kampala University, who were not meeting certain standards.
