The Deputy Mayor of Juba for Administration and Finance is calling for the decentralization of resources within Juba City to ensure the effective and efficient functioning of the quarter councils.

Mogga Franco Wani made the remarks during the welcoming ceremony of the new leadership of the Juba City Council at Kator Quarter Council on Tuesday, October 24.

he stated that the three blocks of Juba City, namely Juba, Kator, and Munuki, should have ownership and control over their own resources.

This, according to Mogga, will enable quarter councils to carry out their duties and functions effectively.

He expressed his determination to address this issue with the Mayor of the Juba City Council.

“We must decentralize the resource docket for the blocks to own their resources and if there’s anything we shall sit down with them we address that administratively,” Wani expressed his view during a speech delivered.

“The centralization of the resources is a question that had descended the performances at the city council and I want to take that seriously and with your directives and permission we will be able to make sure that this is fixed in the right direction.”
