Joint security center opened in Juba

A joint operations center in Juba aimed at promoting cooperation and avoiding conflict among various security forces operating in the capital has been established.

The establishment of the joint center is in line with the 2015 peace agreement.

The center accommodates special unites from all the organized forces, including the police, army, and national security.

The Minister of Interior, Michael Chiengjiek, says the center will help in providing a better and good security environment to residents of Juba.

“The coordination will be easy and our people will have access to the police and to the security services on the ground,” The minister said during the launch of JOC today in Juba.

The establishment of the Joint Operations Center was facilitated by the government of US, which offered South Sudan government more than two million US dollars.

Parts of the money will be spent on training and maintenance of the center located at Nyakuron.
