Jamus FC Juba beat Wanding FC Nasir 4-0, earning an overwhelming advantage in the first leg of the South Sudan Cup semifinals at Buluk Playground on Monday.
Jamus almost crashed out of the tournament after losing to El-Merriekh FC Bentiu in Zone B qualification tournament on February 7, but prevailed to the next round after defeating Tiger FC Kuajok in a runners-up match.
In the match played at Buluk on Monday, Jamus head home with three points and four goals, casting an unlike possibility for Wanding to turn it around.
The second leg competition will resume on February 21, 2024, for Gonzaga FC Rumbek against El Merriekh FC Bentiu, who drew 1-1 in their first leg. Jamus and Wanding will then face off again on February 22, 2024.
None of the four semi-finalists has won the South Sudan cup title in their history, meaning, they will be looking to win their first title at the national level.
