Interior ministry selects members of interim police force

The ministry of interior is selecting police personnel who will be members of the Joint Integrated Police Unit, a security official has said.

According to the August peace document, the special police unit shall be in charge of security during the interim period; mainly in Juba, Bor, Malakal, and Bentiu.

According to Major-General Elia, Director for Transformation and planning at the ministry, a police officer must be fluent in either English or Arabic in order to be a member of the joint police force;

And the police team from the SPLM in Opposition must have been in the national police service before the violence erupted in December 2013.
