The Relief and Rehabilitation Commission for Awerial County, Lakes State, says the IDPs are lacking food in the camp.

Speaking to Eye Radio’s partner community radio network Nhomlaau FM on Friday over the phone from Minkaman, the county coordinator for RRC, Mr John Parac, said the distribution was put on hold.

“There was food distribution which was interrupted by the incident that took place on the 22nd of January,” he explained. “So, from 22nd up to now, the food distribution did not resume.”

He hopes that food distribution, which will be carry out by the ICRC, will take place next Monday.

Parac referred to an incident on 22 January when forces clashed at Kalthok, 22 kilometers from Minkaman and agencies evacuated the area.

He said food distribution will re-start this coming week but only for registered IPDs.

He says the current number of registered IDPs at Minkaman camp in Awerial County is 175,000 people. IOM has resumed registration of people who are sheltering under the trees in Minkaman County.

He urged the aid agencies to double their effort to help people living in the camp in Minkaman.

He says the IDPs are not willing to return to Bor but they are going to collect their belonging from Bor then returning to Minkaman.
