The Governor of Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has mourned the death of senior Eye Radio journalist and Dawn Show presenter Emmanuel Joseph Akile, describing him as an exceptional and brilliant veteran journalist.
In a condolence message published on Friday January 2, 2025, Governor Adil said he was profoundly heartbroken by the death of Akile, who passed away on December 30, 2025 at a Gudele hospital.
The governor said Akile was a dedicated seeker of truth and a fearless, insightful and uncompromising journalist.
“I am profoundly heartbroken by the loss of 𝐄𝐦𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐩𝐡 𝐀𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐞, an exceptional, formidable and brilliantly acute veteran journalist. He was a gentleman man, knowledgeable, thoughtful and professional,” he said.
“Akile was a dedicated seeker of truth, a force with unrivalled ability and a third eye for news. He was fearless, tireless, insightful and uncompromising. We will dearly miss his humility, resilience and focus journalism,” he added.
Governor Adil also conveyed his condolences to Akile’s family, friends and colleagues at Eye Radio.
“Our prayers and love to the family, friends, colleagues at the Eye Radio, [Eye Media] and the entire journalism fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace!” he said.
Akile, who died after being hospitalised, was the presenter of Eye Radio’s flagship Dawn Show, where he discussed current affairs, political issues and humanitarian developments.
His death has been widely mourned by political leaders, civil society groups, the media fraternity, think-tank organisations, friends, colleagues and listeners.
His remains will be laid to rest at his family residence in Gurei suburb of Juba on Saturday, 3 January 2026.
