Health ministry: 850,000 malaria cases treated in six months

The Ministry of Health says more than 850,000 malaria cases were treated in the first half of 2026 through a World Bank-funded health project.

In a statement issued today, the ministry says the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP) supported the treatment of more than 850,000 malaria cases with first-line antimalarial medicines across South Sudan.

The ministry says the support is helping people affected by malaria access timely and effective treatment, while also improving access to essential health services for families and communities.

It says the achievement reflects the continued efforts of the government, donors and HSTP implementing partners to improve health outcomes and ensure essential medicines and services reach those who need them.

The ministry has also thanked donors and implementing partners for their continued support and cooperation in strengthening South Sudan’s health system.

It says the combined efforts are contributing to a stronger, more resilient and government-led health system.
