The 89 school children that were abducted in Upper Nile State by forces loyal to Johnson Olony will be released in the next two days, the government has announced.
The children were kidnapped in Wau Shilluk and forcibly recruited in to the armed forces.
James Aguer, chairperson of the Committee for the Eradication of Abduction of Women and Children says they have been negotiating with Johnson Olony to release the children.
“They accepted our call to go and see if there are children among them and if their ages less than 18 years are, they will hand them to us and we will take them to their families in Wau Shulluk,” Mr Aguer told Eye Radio.
“And for those whose ages are more than 18 years, they will choose whether they want to continue or to go back.”
The move came after the UN intensified calls for the release of the children.
