The government has postponed the signing of the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for two weeks.

The signing ceremony was to be led by President Salva Kiir and the UN Resident Coordinator for South Sudan Mrs. Sara Nyanti Beysolow in Juba.

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs Dr. Martin Elia Lomuro made the announcement at Freedom Hall on Thursday morning.

“We would like honorably and honestly to postpone this gathering today for another two weeks to give ourselves time for the President to return back,’ he announced.

“And also to be able to allow some of your colleagues who are traveling. I hope this apology is received in good faith and with honesty.”

The United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework is a comprehensive document that gives details of the work plan of the UN in South Sudan for the period 2023-2025.

It has been developed through consultations with various government line ministries, the private sector, civil society, academia, research institutions, women, and youth across the country.

EDITOR’S NOTE: This story has been corrected. Early, the news story was titled: “Gov’t adjourns signing UN development framework as president leaves the country.”  The minister of cabinet affairs, Dr. Martin Elia was misquoted. Dr. Elia says “for the president to return back” not “president leaves the country.” Eye Radio sincerely regrets any error reflected in the story.
