Gov’t expresses commitment to support media devt. in S. Sudan

The National Ministry of Information, Communication Technology, and Postal Services has expressed government commitment to supporting media development in the country.

The Deputy Minister of Information, Dr. Jacob Maiju Korok made the remarks during the graduation of 23 trained Journalists from the Media Development Institute.

The Media Development Institute (MDI) through the Association for Media Development in South Sudan (AMDISS) has on Wednesday graduated 23 trained Journalists after being enrolled in a one-year training at the institute.

The graduates were equipped with various journalistic skills besides the norms and ethics of Journalism.

The Deputy Minister of Information encouraged the new graduates to practice their work ethically and professionally.

He assured the Ministry’s commitment to support the institute to participate in the development of the media industry in the country.

Meanwhile, AMDISS Directress, Ayaa Irene applauded the government and Media authority for recognizing the MDI Certificate as the minimum document for the accreditation of Journalists.

She said the institute provides training opportunities to journalists in the country including those at the state level.

Media Development Institute was established in 2014 and has since been operating under the auspices of the Association for Media Development in South Sudan.

The main aim of MDI is to become a national media training institute that is able to strengthen the capacity of Journalists and to develop media professionalism, including the improvement of ethical standards in South Sudan.
