Governors asked to appoint 7 ministers in each state

President Salva Kiir has directed the new governors of the 28 states to appoint only seven ministers in their cabinets.

According to the press secretary, the President issued the directive during a briefing of the governors on Tuesday.

The Press Secretary in the Office of the President, Ateny Wek, says the governors were also instructed to have only twelve constitutional post-holders in their executive.

“They were asked to appoint only seven ministers and three advisors plus the governor himself, and the deputy governor,” Mr Ateny confirmed to Eye Radio.

Among other issues, Mr Ateny added, the President urged the newly appointed governors to operate on the budget previously meant for the old states until the next financial year.
