MALAKAL, Upper Nile State (Eye Radio) — Upper Nile State Governor Jacob Dollar Ruot returned to Malakal on Monday after concluding a three-day tour of Nasir County. Upon arrival at Malakal airport, Deputy Governor Deng Joh Angok received him.
The Governor’s office released a statement confirming the visit aimed to strengthen security, unity, and community engagement. The statement reported that local leaders, traditional authorities, and citizens welcomed the visit.
During the tour, Governor Ruot held consultative meetings with community elders, youth groups, women’s associations, and county officials.
Discussions, according to the statement, focused on promoting peaceful coexistence, facilitating access for humanitarian organizations, supporting returnees, and enhancing security cooperation.
Governor Ruot used the opportunity to address the communities. He emphasized that lasting peace requires continuous dialogue, unity, and shared responsibility.
“Our main job as state leadership is to make sure every community feels safe, heard, and included,” Governor Ruot stated. “The reception we received in Nasir demonstrates a strong, shared desire for peace and development across Upper Nile State.”
The Governor’s delegation also conducted assessments of local infrastructure, education, and health facilities, noting areas requiring humanitarian support.
His administration pledged renewed collaboration with national authorities, development partners, and community leaders to address the county’s needs.
The Governor confirmed that the government will continue peace-building initiatives across the state, indicating that more county-level visits and dialogue missions are scheduled in the coming months.
