The government of Central Equatoria state has resolved to recover all government houses that are illegally occupied by those that are not officials of the state government.

In a press statement yesterday after the state council of ministers meeting, the state Minister of Physical Infrastructure, Suba Samuel Manase said that some individuals have turned government-owned houses into private properties.

“Some individuals have modified those houses on their own discretion.  They have not even asked the Ministry concern on what they are supposed to do,” he told Eye radio.

Mr. Manase said that in many cases,  it will be very difficult to recover the houses.

“Some of these houses were even sub-listed to some individual –partly or even wholly. This is also dangerous because the state may lose such properties,” he said.

The state Ministry of Physical Infrastructure has been instructed to write up procedures on how to utilize and recover state government properties.

“The Ministry within two weeks is to present guidelines which will be discussed on utilization of government’s asserts -not only the houses, but also including on how to use government vehicles.” said Mr. Manase.

The Minister also said that a letter of notification will be issued to occupants to vacate the houses so that they can be occupied by government officials.
