The Mayor of Juba City, Michael Ladu Allah-Jabu, and his deputy Thiik Thiik Mayardit have been removed in a Gubernatorial Order that dissolves the City Council.

Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil on Tuesday disbanded the current leadership of Juba City Council and appointed Lainya Commissioner Emmanuel Khamis as caretaker mayor.

It is not clear if Khamis will be an acting mayor from his locality or in Juba.

Governor Adil effected the changes as; “(A)Dissolution of the Top Office Bearers of Juba City Council that is; H.W the Mayor, Two Deputy Mayors and the Chief Executive Officer.”

“(B) Assignment of Hon. Emmanuel Khamis Richard, the Commissioner of Lainya County to take the Responsibility of Juba City Council and supervise its General activities until the Mayorship position is filled.”

The State Ministry of Local Government and Law Enforcement Agency has been instructed to immediately take the necessary steps to execute the order.

On a similar note, the order also appointed Rev. Martin Simon Wani as the Chief Executive Officer of Juba City Council(CEO-JCC).

It further upgraded an immediate upgrading of the Position of the Chief Executive Officer of Juba City Council to the Status of Director General in Grade “1” placement Ordinary.

The changes are said to have come into effect today, Tuesday 27th June 2023 as signed by the appointing authority.
