The former commissioner of Lainya County, Eresto Taban Luate, has died, the Central Equatoria State government has announced.
A condolence statement issued by the office of Governor Emmanuel Adil Anthony did not indicate the cause of his death.
Luate served as commissioner of Lainya County during the defunct Yei River State, one of the 32 states that were later abolished in 2020.
In the condolence message, Governor Adil described Luate as a dedicated public servant who served his people and Central Equatoria State with courage and commitment.
He extended his condolences to Luate’s family, friends and colleagues.
The late former commissioner also served as the Security Coordinator of the Greater Yei Counties during the 32-state system.
Until his death, Luate was a member of the State Land Commission and the SPLM Veterans League in Lainya County.
