The Ministry of Finance and Planning has started consultations with state and administrative area representatives on the preparation of the South Sudan Development Plan (SSDP) 2026–2036.

The ministry launched a two-day workshop in Juba on Thursday to collect views from states and administrative areas as part of the formulation of the 10-year development plan.

The workshop brings together state ministers of finance, agriculture, trade, investment and livestock, as well as technical directors general from the respective ministries.

Participants are expected to share ideas and experiences with national government officials, development partners and technical consultants.

The Director General of Sectoral Planning at the Ministry of Finance and Planning, John Garang Awan, said contributions from state representatives will help strengthen the development planning process.

He said the consultations will support the creation of a long-term development framework for the country.

The ministry said the process will include further engagements with national and international stakeholders through seminars and benchmarking activities.

It said the consultations aim to share experiences and develop a sustainable economic framework for South Sudan.

The workshop is supported by a diagnostic study titled “A new Horizon- pathways for economic diversification in South Sudan.”
