An official from the World Football governing body, FIFA is in South Sudan to evaluate whether the Juba national stadium playing ground meets the standards and specifications of the international body.

Anthony Apparailly, who arrived in the city early this week, visited the national stadium on Wednesday to inspect the stadium with the aim to assess the artificial turf installed at the facility.

The inspection is in a bid to expedite its usage as soon as possible.

Albino Kuek, the spokesperson of the South Sudan Football Association told Eye Radio on Thursday the visiting football facility expert expressed his satisfaction with the standard of the stadium.

“The expert from FIFA came to certify the artificial turf. The artificial turf is this green grass placed on the pitch of Juba Stadium. There are so many types of turf and there are so many layers considered for the safety of the players, both international and national players,” said Kuek.

“FIFA does not just approve any turf because these turfs have different categories in the world. There are hard ones and soft ones so, it depends on which one you have selected,

“I can assure you that he is so happy about the standard and he has assured us that after this, it can simply be approved. He has said that this is standard for FIFA stadium and he wants to make sure that all things in the artificial turf are met, that is why he is testing them.”

The South Sudan Football Federation (SSFA) is about to complete the installation of septic tanks, flashlights, giant screens, and paintwork around the stadium perimeter.
