FIFA backs Chabur

FIFA has ordered the Board of Directors of the South Sudan Football Association to reverse their decision to suspend Chabur Goc as the federation’s president.

In a letter sent to SSFA seen by Eye Radio, Fatma Samoura, the Secretary-General of FIFA said they acknowledged receipt of board’s decision, but would like Mr Chabur to defend himself against the allegations.

The letter said Chabur would be required to respond to the allegations in the next extraordinary General Assembly in March, 2017.

Gabriel Geng Geng, the SSFA spokesperson, acknowledged receipt of the letter from FIFA but declined to comment.

Chabur was suspended in absentia two weeks ago by the Board of Directors of the National Football Association.

The board members accused him of transferring about 400,000 US dollars of the Association’s money into his private account, a charge he denies.

Upon arriving at Juba International Airport, Mr Chabur said he would not be stepping down.
