The commissioner of Fashoda County of Upper Nile State is calling on Sudanese pastoralists to end “criminal” activities in the area.

On January 18, the pastoralists crossed into Fashoda raided the area, leading to the death of one Agwelek soldier and three of the attackers.

The attackers reportedly looted more than 150 heads of cattle.

Fashoda commissioner, Joseph Aban said the armed cattle herders from neighboring Southern Kurdufan in Sudan have launched persistent attacks on the locals.

“Here, there are criminals who formed themselves in between, there is a pastoralists who have animals, cows, and sheep, and they are grassing in the area,” he said.

“We calling on them to cooperate with us to stop this issue of killing that happening every day because they are from Howzima who normally come from South Kurdufan .”

Aban is calling on members of the Sudanese pastoralists to cooperate with the authorities in dealing with the “criminals”.

He says they can help in identifying the culprits.
