All the members of the Former Detainees, except their leader pagan Amum, will be in Juba tomorrow as part of the peace agreement, an official has said.
It’s not clear why Mr Pagan Amum is not coming.
He was in Juba in June and was reinstated as the secretary general of the SPLM, but he left the capital and accused his colleagues of war mongering.
Minister of Information Michael Makuei Lueth says Rebeca Nyandeng, the wife to late hero Dr. John Garang, will be among the team of the Former Detainees.
He says it is unlikely that an advance team of the SPLM in opposition will come to Juba tomorrow as scheduled.
Mr Makuei says the opposition has raised new demands. They would like President Salva Kiir to first meet with Dr. Riak Machar.
“The other conditions which they have also put on is that they want the establishment order number 36, 2015, to be revoked,” Mr Makuei said.
Establishment Order N0 36, 2015 – stipulates creation of extra states – 18.
Mr Makuei said the government is yet waiting for an official communication from the opposition about their delay to come to Juba.
Both the Former Political Detainees and the SPLM in Opposition are yet to confirm the arrangements.
But in a statement this morning, the SPLM-IO forces announced that the government attacked its position in Western Equatoria State on Tuesday.
“Two heavily armed government gunships fired at SPLA-IO position at 4:PM,” said deputy military spokesman, Dickson Gatluak.
“The heavy bombardment targeted our positions in the entire region of Western Equatoria where our forces camp around Mundiri area under command of Major-Gen Kenyi.”
The SPLA has not reacted to the statement.
