The Special Envoy of the Sudanese paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, Yousif Ezat briefed President Salva Kiir on Wednesday about his group’s position in the ongoing conflict.

The envoy of General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo reportedly told President Kiir his boss is in full support of the IGAD peace process.

Mr. Ezat said General Dagalo – rather known as Hemedti – is ready to observe ceasefire and cessation of hostilities, and calling on General Burhan to reciprocate.

This, he said would open up humanitarian corridors in Khartoum and other areas.

“Yousif said the Rapid Support Forces also acknowledged that Juba is an ideal place for the Sudanese peace talks, saying South Sudan and Sudan shares history and culture,” reads a statement from the Office of the President.

The meeting was also attended by South Sudan’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Deng Dau Deng and Kiir’s Advisor on Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak.

Acting Minister Deng told the media that President Kiir is concerned about the suffering the Sudanese people and urged the two warring generals to ceasefire for the good of the people and their nation.

The meeting comes only a week after the Special Envoy of General Abdal Fatah al-Burhan, held a similar meeting with President Salva Kiir.

Dafallah al-Haj Ali also said the Sudanese people have full confidence in President Kiir to mediate the Sudanese conflict.

However, the Sudanese warring parties are currently holding pre-negotiation talks in Saudi Arabia.
