UN compound bombarded in Bentiu clashes

Author : | Published: Wednesday, March 18, 2015

The United Nations says a bomb landed at its compound in Bentiu during a fighting between the government troops and the SPLM in Opposition forces yesterday.

It says the camp hosts more than 53,000 people displaced from their homes in different clashes in and around Bentiu since December 2013.

UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric says a separate fighting between the two forces was reported in Renk County in Upper Nile state on the same day.

Dujarric says the clash took place near a UN base in the area but could not confirm movement of forces or casualties on the ground.

She condemns the fighting.
