Civil Society groups at the peace talks in Addis Ababa say they will continue to pressure the warring parties in order to reach an agreement.

The activists say they want the government and the SPLM in Opposition to end the 10-month conflict.

“We are also lobbying for specific issues, such as disarmament and respect for the cessation of hostilities agreement,” Alokier Malual, head of the civil society groups from Juba, told Eye Radio in Addis Ababa this morning.

She said they want to pressure the two parties to ensure that they reach agreement on contentious issues.

“What concerns us now is that the peace process must go forward so that there is peace for the people of South Sudan who are desperately in need of peace.”

IGAD meditators for the South Sudan Peace process are organizing consultation meetings with all the stakeholders in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

Today, they are meeting with representatives of the civil society groups. The seventh round of the peace talks is expected to start this week.
