Civil Society Alliance supports conduct of election in June

The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance says it supports the decision of the National Elections Commission to hold general elections on the 30th of June.

The activist group says holding the elections will prevent what they call a ‘leadership vacuum.’

“The South Sudan Civil Society Alliance calls upon the national election commission to hold the election on time in order to avoid South Sudan falling into a leadership vacuum,” said David De Dau, spokesperson of the alliance.

“The legitimacy of the government can only come through election in a democratic manner.”

Mr. Dau urged the international community to fund the electoral process and calls upon the humanitarian agencies to increase the supply essentials to the war affected regions in the country.
