Cholera death toll rises

One person has died and 40 new cases of cholera have been registered, according to the Central Equatoria State Minister of Health.

Felix Lado says over 300 cases of the epidemic have been recorded in Juba so far.

“The number of new cases admitted is 41, new death 1, in-patients is 112. Total cases since the beginning of the cholera is 318,” Mr Lado said.

Cholera is an infectious disease that causes severe watery diarrhea, which can lead to dehydration and even death if not treated.

It is caused by eating contaminated food or drinking water.

Mr. Lado urged people to maintain good hygiene in their homes to prevent the spread of cholera.
