The UN Secretary-General has condemned the deadly inter-communal violence that broke out in UNMISS compound in Malakal on Wednesday.
At least over 7 internally displace persons were killed in the incident; 40 others sustained injuries.
In a statement issued last evening, Ban Ki-Moon warned all parties against inciting ethnic disputes and called on them to ‘refrain from any actions or statements that could further escalate the situation’.
The Secretary-General also cautioned security forces against attacking civilians in UN compounds, saying it ‘may constitute a war crime’.
