Authorities in Central Equatoria have warned Juba residents against buying land without legal documents.

Land dispute has been regarded as the main cause of insecurity and misunderstanding among communities in the state capital and its surroundings.

Areas significantly affected due to land-related issues include Moriyok, Khor Wolliang, Gumbo-Sherikaat, Gudele, Garbo and Korok West, among others.

According to the state Ministry of Housing, Land, and Public Utility, the areas have been demarcated to people with legal documents.
Flora Gabriel Loro is the Minister.

She said some of the rightful owners have had their plots grabbed.

“We find challenges because of insecurity and sometimes because of other people who are land grabbers who actually took over the land which is been demarcated to the people”, Ms Loro was speaking during a weekly state press briefing on Tuesday.

” If someone comes to you with money or he wants to sell to you a place, don’t take it because when you want a place you have to come to the local authority, the ministry, so that we give you land”, she advises.

Minister Flora also requests those occupying other people’s piece of plots including houses illegally to evacuate.

“I am just urging that it is time for you people to leave the houses for the other people to go in, I know it is very difficult because some of you are not ready, but we have stayed for almost one year or more” Ms. Loro stated.

She further warn of forceful eviction should anyone ignore the government calls.
