The National Immunization Days against polio have started today in six counties of Central Equatoria State.

The vaccinators will be going from house to house for four days in all the 46 Payams of the state.

The State Minister of Health, Dr Emanuel Ija Baya, says the vaccination targets children below five years.

“The number of children to be vaccinated in this round is 324,000 under five,” Dr Baya said.

“There are 1012 vaccinators who will going round from house to house to ensure that every child who is targeted here is vaccinated.”

Dr Emanuel says mothers should take all the children below five years for vaccinations.

He says vaccinators will also visit nursery schools to vaccinate the children.

“I would like to give information to teachers or Kindergartens’ people that they should not refuse children to be vaccinated.”

The campaign is in line with the national health ministry’s zero-case of polio in the country.
