Cattle keepers leave Mvolo & Mundri East – WE

Authorities in Western Equatoria say cattle keepers who were asked to leave the state have moved away from two counties.

Farmers in Western Equatoria complained at a peace conference last month that cattle were destroying their farm lands.

The cattle keepers, who came from Jonglei and Lakes states, agreed to move away from Western Equatoria.

The have now left Mvolo and Mundri East counties. But seven camps remain in the state.

John Cleopas is the Acting Commissioner of Mundri East County.

He said: “Now we have almost 7 cattle camps that are still here, and they are also causing problems to the local farmers. Till now we have two counties which are Mvolo and Mundri East which are empty from cows which came from other states.” Adding; “The rest of the cows are now in Mundri West and Maridi but the others are trying to leave the place.”

Cleopas has called on the local farmers and cattle keepers to fully implement the resolutions of the conference.
