Gov’t reserves enough to address current inflation -officials
The Government on Friday said it has enough reserves to address the current inflation in the market.
The announcement comes after Finance Minister Dr Dier Tong Ngor and Central Bank Governor Johnny Ohisa Damian briefed President Kiir on the latest monetary plans for the country.
Minister Dier said the institutions are going to inject enough dollars into the market to meet the high demand for hard currency, the presidential press unit reported.
“We have reached a concrete solution to avail dollars into the market to address the high inflation”, the press unit cited him as saying, and that this, would bring down consumer prices in the market.
For his part, the Central Bank Governor Johnny Ohisa Damian said the Bank is going to be financing the import of essential commodities into the country.

Troika countries condemn looting of WFP Bor warehouse
The US, Norway and the United Kingdom have condemned the May 23 attack on a World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse by armed individuals in Bor, Jonglei State.
According to Jonglei State Police Commissioner General Elia Costa, a group of armed youth broke into a WFP warehouse in Bor town and looted a vehicle packed with sorghum.
Costa said the suspects stole about 148 bags of sorghum from the car.
However, he said the Police have arrested two youths for allegedly looting relief food from a World Food Program vehicle on Tuesday night Tuesday
The incident was not the first of its kind.
In February, a WFP vehicle transporting relief food broke down between Bor and Anyidi town when some unidentified people looted some food items.
The amount of food looted was undetermined, but about 38 bags were recovered in the nearby bushes and handed to the World Food Program.
In a statement to Eye Radio newsroom on Wednesday Afternoon, the Western countries condemned the latest attack.
“We condemn the May 23 attack by armed individuals at a World Food Programme (WFP) warehouse in Bor, Jonglei State,” the statement read.
The trio reiterated their calls on the transitional government to establish conditions conducive to the safe and effective provision of humanitarian assistance.
They said ” We stand with the WFP and all courageous aid workers and organizations who seek to help South Sudanese people in need.
