Why the Cabinet Affairs Minister is suing CEPO

The Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr Martin Elia Lomoro, says he is taking the civil society group, Community Empowerment for Progress Organization to court for allegedly falsely quoting him in an article published on a local newspaper.

The article, published recently on the ‘Juba Monitor’, alleged that the council of ministers had set up a technical committee to review boundaries of the 28 states.

The article quoted the Cabinet Minister, martin Elia Lomuro confirming the formation of the committee, a statement the minister dismissed.

Mr. Lomuro also rubbished the information in the article, stating that he has no information about a formed committee to discuss the states and boundary issues.

“So we will take the Community Empowerment for Progress Organization to task, it is very dangerous to make a statement and put somebody’s name it is not good,” he told a reporters during a press conference in Juba.

Mr. Lomoro said the litigation would be instituted through the National Media Authority.
“If you have violated the law then you go to court, they will go to court through the media authority of course.”
