AU asked to demarcate South Sudan-Sudan border

Sudan and South Sudan have asked the African Union to start demarcating the border between the two countries at the end of this month, according to the Minister of Defense.

Kuol Manyang says both countries came up with the resolution at a meeting in Khartoum early this month.

The meeting discussed implementation of the 2012 Cooperation Agreement.

Mr Kuol said a technical team for the demarcation will also be composed of forces from both countries.

“When they arrive, they will….demarcate those places and then our forces will move backward and the Sudan arm forces also move backward to a 20 kilometer buffer zone,” Mr Manyang told Eye Radio.

He says ministers of interior from both countries will meet in Juba after Ramadhan to identify four crossing points at the border areas.
