The South Sudan People’s Defence Forces has ordered all Lou-Nuer groups awaiting integration into the army and other organised forces to report to designated assembly areas in Nyirol County, Jonglei State, within 72 hours.

The order was issued by the SSPDF Chief of Defence Forces, General Santino Deng Wol.

In a post on his Facebook page on Thursday, SSPDF spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang said forces deployed in outposts around Waat must report to the Waat Assembly Area, while those operating around Langkien have been ordered to report to the assembly area there.

The SSPDF said the reporting is being carried out ahead of the arrival of a screening and integration committee.

In a statement, General Lul Ruai Koang described the directive as “clear orders for execution.”

The statement does not specify when the screening and integration committee will arrive or how many Lou-Nuer forces are expected to report to the two assembly areas.
