The anti-corruption commission in Central Equatoria is auditing records of public officials for the past four years, an official has said.
Chairperson Emmanuel Khamis Richard says the investigation is to determine if there was mismanagement of the state resources.
“We are very busy. In the last one week, we have been checking through files and records,” Mr Richard told Eye Radio.
“We have already written to his Excellency the care taker governor. We have recommended a compressive audit of all the state institutions to ensure that at least a four year back audit is done to establish whether the institutions have been managing the resources given them in a very honest way or not.”
He warned that those responsible would be held accountable.
Mr Khamis called upon all levels of government and institutions to be transparent.
He also said trust between the citizens and their governments can only be built when both participate jointly in resource management and accountability.
Today South Sudan joins the rest of UN member states to mark the international day of anti-corruption.
