The Association for Media Development in South Sudan has denied media reports that it is helping the security service in tracking journalists.
Radio Tamasuj had reported that an accreditation process initiated by the government and later endorsed by AMDISS is meant to give the government powers to decide who is and who is not a journalist.
The association has sent out circulars to media houses to list their journalists for accreditation.
In a statement, AMDISS says the accreditation is to enable reporters to attend certain occasions such as the Independence Day and enter some ministries such as the Defense ministry without hindrance.
AMDISS chairman, Alfred Taban, says the association has been misrepresented.
