Alek Wek is second highest-paid female model in Africa.

Alek Wek, a 45-year-old South Sudanese British model is the second highest paid female model in Africa, earning at least 20 million United States dollars a year.

Alek, who is also a designer, fled the Sudanese civil to Britain in 1991 where she settled with family.

The Wau-born model, whose parents are Athian Wek and Akuol Wek, has been hailed for her influence on the view of beauty in the fashion industry.

Regarding her high fashion data, dark-skinned Alek is 1.8 meters and weighs 56kg. She has a measurement of 34-24-35 inches. Her elegant shape is complimented her dark brown hair as well as her eyes.

Alek signed to Ford Models’, then a very high-prolific agency in 1996.

In 1997, Alek first appeared on the cover of Ella Magazine and was the first African woman with this historical distinction.

Then, in 1999, she was photographed in the calendar in which artist Joan Gair painted her body in bright beautiful colors.

Alek in 2002 made her acting unveiling playing a Princess of Sudan in the film ‘The four feathers’ and starred in the battle for the break.

In 2005, she launched #Wek1993# the line of handbags that are for sale in Selfridges and department stores. This project is a dedication to her late father, Wek.

Following the America’s Top Model show on acclaimed reality in 2011, Alek served as the guest judge.

In 2014, the outfaced South Sudanese British national signed with Marks and Spencer for a campaign, a significant milestone for her profession and personality as she used to shop there at her teenage.

She was listed as one of the BBC’s 100 women in 2015.

According to December 2022 highest paid African models’ list, Alek Wek appeared in the second top with an estimated worth of $ 20 million making her the second highest paid model after Candice Swanepo of South Africa with worth $25 million.

Alek known as msalekwek on Instagram has 167K followers. She however doesn’t have an official page for Facebook.

Supermodel Alek Wek has been actively supporting UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency since 2011 and was appointed UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador in 2013.

As a former refugee from what is now South Sudan, Alek knows what it is like to be forced to flee her home.

She now travels across the globe using her voice, her platform and her story to advocate on behalf of refugees and to support the life-saving work of UNHCR.
