Author : | Published: Tuesday, December 15, 2015

The Minister of Agriculture, Beda Machar, has presented to the parliament a master plan to improve agricultural productivity in the country for the next 25 years.

He says if passed by the parliament, the Comprehensive Agriculture Master Plan will transform cultivation from small scale to large economic scale.

Mr Machar says most of the agricultural produce will be sold in the local markets.

He says the plan will help create jobs, reduce poverty, and make the country self-reliant.

“The funding that will be made available by the agricultural sector by the government will contribute to increase in the Gross Domestic Products, and enhancement of the Food and Nutrition security all over the country,” Mr Machar told the parliament on Monday.

He says the formulation of the master plan started in 2012 and was completed in May this year.

It was supported by the government of Japan, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization, and the European Union, among other partners.
